Approach to Counseling
Jen uses Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques along with mindfulness techniques to help clients get in touch with and get comfortable expressing their authentic emotions. She approaches therapy from an attachment and relational lens, and offers a safe and nurturing space for clients to explore and share feelings. At times, Jen utilizes cognitive therapy techniques in addition to emotionally-focused and body-awareness techniques.
Jen understands that it can be difficult to open up to a new therapist and there is often anxiety present when beginning therapy. Jen is happy to work with you at whatever pace you are comfortable with, and will never pressure you to share more than you feel ready for. It is not necessary for you to divulge specific details of trauma for therapy to be helpful.
Jen is sex positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and works with both monogamous and non-monogamous relationships. Jen aims to hold a safe space for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent individuals.
Jen is interested in truly understanding her clients, and offering them a shame-free space to feel seen and understood.
